M92 in Hercules

M92 is a globular cluster of stars in the constellation of Hercules, and is often overshadowed by its famous companion M13. This is unfortunate as M92 is a fine cluster in its own right, shining at magnitude 6.5 from a distance of approximately 26,000 ly. Like all globular clusters it is extremely old, in the region of 15-16 billion years, and lurks at the edge of the galaxy. It is estimated to measure around 85 ly across
